Japanese translation and the computer - the past, the present and the future
Speakers
Abstract
This presentation will range fairly widely over the impact of information and communications technology on translation, particularly into and out of Japanese. I will be looking at the changing use of computers by translators, the current usage, and will speculate (probably futilely) on what the future might bring: does machine translation really have a future, where are translation memories going, what does a totally broadbanded future mean to a freelance translator.
