IJET Venue

THE UNIVERSITY OF BATH

The University of Bath is the venue for the conference itself and is situated on the top of Claverton Down just 10 minutes from Bath city centre by bus (up Bathwick Hill). Built in 1966, we celebrated our fortieth anniversary last year. The Campus is small and compact and has plenty of green spaces, plenty of bars, a small supermarket and a state-of the art sports centre with an olympic pool which is open to the public most days.

Click here for more details on getting to the University. There is a regular bus service from the city centre to the campus which runs every 6 minutes or so in term time. Buses leave from Railway Street behind the bus station which is about 100 metres from the Bath Spa railway station. Buses 18, 410 and 418 (the ‘Bright Orange Bus’) go to the university.

A combined map of the university and the city can be found here and a campus map is here.

There is plenty of convenient en-suite accommodation available on the University campus. Most rooms are only 5 minutes walk or so from the main conference venue. We would advise you to book accomodation early as it is not possible for the organisers to reserve specific rooms for this conference. Rooms can be reserved here and at beds@bath.ac.uk. Polden, Marlborough and Solsbury Courts are the highest quality accommodation on campus, other more reasonably priced rooms are also available.

As a major tourist destination there are plenty of places to stay to suit all budgets. The organizers regret to say that they are unable to provide any recommendations or travel advice. The Bath Tourist Board has a very comprehensive website at www.visitbath.co.uk. From here you can find plenty of links to hotels, B&B and other places to stay.

There are 5-star hotels available in the historic centre such as the Cresent Hotel in the famous Royal Crescent as well as plenty of cosy B&B's in and around the town. Please see www.bath.org for more on B&Bs.
