Best Translator Office Views
2009-01-16 01:18:08
Like the view FROM your office window, or even the view OF your office? Does it inspire you and help you through your day? Send us a photo and voice clip telling us about it. If selected for use in our presentation, your view can help inspire your fellow translators and interpreters around the world.
To celebrate the diversity of our membership and to enable vicarious participation in IJET-20 (http://ijet.jat.org/en/ijet-20) by some who can only be present in spirit, we invite everyone to submit a photo of the view from their office to be presented as part of the Twenty-Twenty (pecha-kucha style) series of presentations at IJET-20 in Sydney. The photo should be accompanied by a voice-file no longer than 20-seconds in MP3 audio format introducing yourself, where you are located and a snappy comment on your working environment. The picture can be of a current or past office view.Who can make a submission? JAT, Honyaku, IJET members, translators and interpreters everywhere. (Previously more limited but now inviting wider participation.)
The photo should be about 1MB in size and in landscape orientation only.
Your PC or Mac might already have a voice recorder, but if uncertain, Recordpad by NCH Software is a simple-to-use and free program. Go to http://www.nch.com.au/recordpad/index.html and click DOWNLOAD (or click the Mac download link at the bottom of the page) and install the software. On setup, deselect all options. A folder called "Telephony Related Programs" (on-demand installs) will also appear in the Programs menu but you can delete this folder or ignore it. It will uninstall when/if you uninstall Recordpad. When recording, select MP3 from the menu and speak loudly and clearly. One 20 sec. recording will be about 300 KB in size.
Note that the photos will be published on the JAT website with the proceedings and by entering a photo you are giving permission for whatever publication eventuates. We can't guarantee to use them all (presuming being inundated of course!) but look forward to a wonderful range of submissions.
Please send your entry to the IJET-20 Organizing Committee at ijet20@gmail.com.
