Langwidget: Turning Computer-Assisted Translation Inside-Out
Speakers
Abstract
A discussion of the ideas behind langwidget [1], an online tool debuting this summer with a new approach
to the ancient dilemma of how to scale the tedious task of translation. Instead of the current CAT paradigm,
in which computers provide fuzzy match suggestions for human translators, langwidget lets the computer drive,
giving translators precise control at each step of machine translation output. Combined with built-in social
functionality that shares generated translation rules by default, langwidget aims to help translators take
advantage of each other's work to create a virtuous cycle of improved productivity.
