Arriving in Japan in 1988 with enough knowledge of Japanese to fill a peanut shell, David Ulvog has made Okinawa his home after receiving a graduate degree at the University of the Ryukyus. He teaches translation along with the ubiquitous English education courses at a local university in Okinawa, and tries to work less than full-time as a freelance translator.
