IJET-19 Call for Proposals

2008-04-24 05:02:19

The IJET-19 Organizing Committee is now accepting proposals for presentations and panel discussions at IJET-19.

The International Japanese-English Translation Conference (IJET) 19 will be held April 12-13, 2008, at the Bankoku Shinryokan, in Okinawa, Japan.

The theme of IJET-19 is "Translator and Client Education." See The IJET-19 Website for details.

The IJET-19 Organizing Committee is now accepting proposals for presentations and panel discussions at IJET-19.

We are inviting proposals dealing with all aspects of Japanese/English translation, including topics of interest to beginning translators, topics of interest to experienced translators, and topics related to the business of translation. Proposals that focus on a specific field, such as translation in chemistry or translation of literature, as well as proposals on general topics, such as translation resources or professional development for translators, or proposals concerning specific types of documents, such as patents or contracts, are encouraged. Presentations and panel discussions may be conducted in Japanese, English, or both.

Considering the theme of the conference, we especially welcome hands-on and workshop-style presentations, as well as presentations on educating clients. Finally, if you have a proposal for a (reasonably relevant) presentation on a lighter note (skit, poem, song, etc.), please do not hesitate to send it in.

To submit a proposal for a presentation or a panel discussion at IJET-19, please send the following information to Hendrik Daiku ( mailto:ijet-19@jat.org or mailto:plethora--d73@islandnet.com ) by December 31, 2007:

  • Title of presentation or panel discussion
  • Abstract for presentation (up to abt. 150 words)
  • Name(s) of presenter(s) or panel members
  • Bio for each presenter or panel member (up to abt. 100 words per person)
  • E-mail address for presenter or contact person
Sessions will be 60 minutes long.

If you have an idea for a panel discussion, but need help identifying other participants, please contact the Committee. If you have any questions about the program at IJET-19, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks in advance,
Hendrik Daiku
