Presentation materials will be available for many sessions via the website.

The session schedule given to all attendees on Saturday morning will indicate whether a session is being videoed.

Videos will be uploaded gradually after IJET-25. Please understand that the Organizing Committee will endeavor to upload videos as soon as is practically possible (we are all volunteers), with the aim of having all videos available by the end of the year.

10. Is there any prerequisite for attending sessions or workshops, such as qualifications, experience, etc?

No! However the Committee recommends that you prepare the text if attending a workshop in order to get the most out of the workshop. Texts will be available on the website from April.

11. What should I wear?

While there is no dress code, business-casual is the norm.

Generally attendees are fairly smartly dressed on Saturday and more casually dressed on Sunday. Some attendees chose to change to before the Networking Dinner.

Based on past experience, it is sometimes difficult to effectively control the climate within seminar rooms and so we recommend you bring a light cardigan or jacket in case of overcooling!

Please have a look at these photos to give you a benchmark!

15. How does IJET differ from JTF’s Honyakusai?

The Honyakusai is a one day event while IJET takes places over 2 days

IJET is aimed principally at translators while the Honyakusai tends to cater more for employees at translation companies

16. Do I have to be a professional translator or interpreter to participate?

No. Students, those starting out, and anyone with an interest in the program is welcome to attend.

Most years, there are people at IJET who are studying translation or interpreting.

There will be plenty to learn from the sessions for beginners and professionals alike.

IJET provides a rare opportunity to see for yourself how professional translators and interpreters go about their work.

You will be able to meet people working in fields you are interested in by attending sessions related to those fields.

Interest-based groups will be able to eat their boxed lunches together at the Networking Lunches on Saturday and Sunday.

Registered participants can exchange information and arrange lunch groups with like-minded participants before the event on the IJET mailing list.

Big Sight meeting rooms will be made available for eating lunch, so feel free to make use them.

You may have opportunities to be introduced to people active in the industry at the Networking Dinner on Saturday evening.

You can also make your name known to all event participants with our Business Card Sized Ads.

Don’t miss this great opportunity to learn and meet new people.
