Writing for Publication and Editing Research Papers Written by Non-native Speakers of English

In a sure-to-be-lively, moderated panel session, two experienced practitioners will briefly review key issues involved in scientific writing and editing for publication, then answer questions from the audience and moderator. This interactive session is intended for those seeking to acquire or improve their skills in writing for publication and editing the work of authors who are not native speakers of English. Topics to be explored by the two panelists will include relationships with scientists/clients, qualifying assertions—a known bugbear for Japanese authors, and paragraph structure. To get the most out of this session, please bring an Internet-enabled device (smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc.) to use in the interactive segment. Participants with burning questions that they would like the panelists to address on the day are also invited to email them in advance to the moderator at [email protected]
