Nicky Knoff

Born 1938; Dutch father and English mother.  The family was living in Indonesia when the Japanese invaded. Nicky, her Mother and younger brother Maarten, were in concentration camps from the age of nearly 4 to nearly 8.

Nicky began her yoga studies in Japan 1970 with Bikram Chaudhury.  She has taught yoga since then, in Tokyo; at the Physical Education Department of Otago and Auckland universities, and "Crippled Children's Societies in Dunedin and Auckland.

In 1986 Nicky opened Queensland School of Yoga in Noosaville, and in l992 the Ashtanga Yoga Academy Cairns. In 2000 she set up The Academy of Yoga in Colorado and in 2005 The Yoga School, Cairns where she still runs workshops and Teacher Training Courses.

Nicky is a senior Iyengar Yoga teacher, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga practitioner 4th Series and a long term Vipassana meditator.  Nicky studied in India directly with BKS Iyengar and Pattabhi Jois.
