Originally a software engineer at Sharp and his own software house for a number of decades, Dr. Yoshida returned to the Osaka City University to learn about the expanding Asian economy at the age of 51 and received a Doctorate of Creative Cities. During this time, he served as a visiting researcher at the Institute of Information Technology (IoIT) of the Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), and served as a researcher and research advisor at the Japanese National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (NAIST).
