Teaching Translation (Panel Discussion)

Advances in communications technology, software applications, and the Internet have revolutionized the teaching of translation. Or have they? Is it still a dry and dusty subject, more suited to the chalkboard and handwritten assignments submitted to the lecturer and returned with red corrections two weeks later? Or is the translation classroom a vibrant place, full of life and laughter? The presenters will review their recent experiences in teaching translation (Japanese-English), demonstrate some applications and techniques that they hope will be useful for others to adopt, and involve the audience in a lively dialogue on the best and the worst approaches to teaching and learning translation. Leave your pen and paper at home, but definitely bring your devices and open minds!
