Claire Debenham is a medical translator currently based in Cambridge, UK.  With a degree in Human Science from University College London and stints as a scientific copy editor at the Royal Society and Random House UK under her belt, she first came to Japan in 1991 as an Anglican missionary.  After working for ecumenical Christian organizations in Tokyo and Kyoto and earning a master's degree in theology from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, she made a second career swerve into marriage, parenthood, and freelance translation. She puts her early training in journal copy editing to good use in the translation of academic papers while also handling clinical trial documentation, medical device publicity materials, and the very occasional religious article.
