Heather Glass

Heather Glass has a BA (in Japanese Studies) from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Advanced Diplomas in Translating and Interpreting and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She also holds NAATI certification as an Interpreter and Translator and an MBA. Heather has over 30 years experience interpreting and translating in the business and diplomatic domains in and outside Australia, managing language service delivery and teaching language service users. She has taught translators and interpreters in both public and private institutions since 2001. Her students come from all language backgrounds, including - more recently - Australian Aboriginal languages. In addition to translating, interpreting and training, Heather works in instructional design and as a technical writer. The first tentative step on the journey of the Australian translating and interpreting industry to national qualifications and improvements to the NAATI testing system was a presentation Heather made at IJET-13 in Yokohama in 2002.
