James Judge

James Judge is a U.S. patent agent and patent translator living and working in Kansai. He has been editing patent specifi cations translated from Japanese for over twenty years; for a good fi fteen years he translated Japanese patent specifi cations into English, and still occasionally gets the opportunity to do so; and for the past fi fteen years he has been fi ling and prosecuting U.S. patent applications, a number of them that he translated himself, directly before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. While he does not believe that being a working patent agent necessarily makes him a better patent translator, he does believe that it makes him a bit more knowledgeable translator, and that some of that knowledge may even be useful to other patent and technical translators.
