Yumiko Tateyama

Yumiko Tateyama received her BA from Kagoshima University, MA in TESOL from the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California, and Ph.D. in Japanese linguistics from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM). She also received certifi cates in translation and interpretation from the Center for Interpretation and Translation Studies (CITS) at UHM. She is currently a faculty member in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at UHM where she teaches courses on Japanese language, pedagogy, and translation. She has also served as an instructor for the Summer Intensive Interpreter Training Program off ered by CITS. Her research interests include pragmatics, second language learning and teaching, discourse analysis, and translation and interpreting.
