Yuki Sayeg

Conference interpreter trainer

Yuki Sayeg

Yuki Sayeg has many years of experience both as a freelance conference interpreter and interpreter trainer. She was the interpreting coordinator in the Master of Arts in Japanese Interpreting and Translation (MAJIT) program at the University of Queensland until its closure at the end of 2022, teaching consecutive and simultaneous interpreting as well as public speaking and general translation courses.

Yuki is a member of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC) and a National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) Certified Conference Interpreter and Certified Advanced Translator. She was involved in the design of the NAATI Certification system introduced in 2018 and is a member of NAATI’s Japanese Examiner Panel, Conference Interpreting.

As a teacher and professional interpreter, Yuki has always emphasised the importance of professional ethics and this is why she finds the theme of this year’s IJET—interpreter visibility—so interesting.
