The first part of this presentation about AI in translation will provide facts and opinions underlying CB's thesis for why Generative AI is leaving neural MT in the dust, why freelancers can win the battle with end clients and agencies to capture the value humans add to AI, the key advantages our dual hemisphere human brain has over AI, the differences between post editing MT and translating with weaponized AI, including less brain cell stress doing the latter, and a description of ways to do the latter to protect your translation livelihood, both with and without CAT tools. In the second part, CA will look at how AI is making its way into CAT Tools and some of the advantages and disadvantages it brings. The focus will be on the value it brings to translators as well as how these new tools can be harnessed advantageously.
