Jonathan Merz

Jonathan Merz is an Atlanta-based, ATA-certified translator with 15 years of experience, specializing in patents and related materials in a variety of technical fields. His first exposure to the industry was in 2008, when he won first place in JAT’s 5th Contest for New and Aspiring Translators. After a stint working in-house at MultiLing (now Questel), he struck out as a self-employed translator in 2010, working for several major providers of patent-related translation services, as well as major institutional end clients such as the USPTO and WIPO. In 2022, Jonathan completed an MA in Translation and Localization Management at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) in order to expand his skill set in the face of the changes in the industry heralded by the advent of AI.
