Cathy Eberst

Cathy Eberst is a Tokyo-based Japanese to English translator with 25 years’ experience specialising in legal translation and, more recently, investor relations and corporate disclosure. She has seen the profession evolve from fax machines and paper dictionaries through CAT tools to today’s generative AI. She is looking forward to discussing what the future holds for a freelance translator and whether it will still be possible to build a long-term career through translation alone.
