Session

Mizuho Mizutani, a veteran guide interpreter and Representative Director of the Kyushu Association of Interpreters, Translators and Guides, will lead attendees on a 3-hour tour of shrines, temples, and other attractions in the old Hakata downtown area. This guided tour in English is a great way to see some of Fukuoka and learn guide interpreting techniques. It will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Friday, May 9, 2025. To participate, you MUST register and purchase a 3000-yen meeting IJET-33 Friday: Walking Tour in Old Hakata Downtown Ticket separately from IJET-33 registration. All registrants will receive an email with more information before the event.

Participants will walk about 1 kilometer in total over mostly level, paved areas. There is one location with 20 steps. The tour is limited to 30 participants. Be sure to sign up early!

The course of the tour is as follows:

13:00　博多駅集合（参加者にはオーディオガイドを付けていただき、ガイドの声がよく聞こえるように博多の街歩きをします。福岡の食、文化、人について歩きながらお話して、福岡の古い町並みを歩きます）
　　　　地下鉄にて櫛田神社前駅へ
13:30　櫛田神社（博多と福岡の歴史について、博多の総鎮守、山笠飾りの見学、記念撮影等）
14:30　櫛田神社より東長寺へ移動　徒歩（10分）
　　　　（日本一の木造大仏、極楽地獄めぐり、五重塔の前で記念撮影）
　　　　地下鉄にて祇園駅より博多駅へ
16:00　博多駅にて解散
