Chloe Kalani
Panelist; Japanese-to-English Division winner, 22nd contest: Chloe is an Assistant Language Teacher with the JET Programme and has been teaching in Toyama, Japan, since 2022. She holds a dual degree in linguistics and East Asian studies from Cornell University. Born and raised on Oahu, Hawaii, she developed an early academic and personal interest in Japanese language, culture, and media, inspired in part by her Japanese mother. Her broader interests include traditional Japanese arts. She aspires to pursue a career in translation and localisation, with a particular focus on the global circulation of Japanese visual media.
