Julianne Long

Julianne is currently a subtitle editor and subtitler at Australian broadcaster SBS. She followed a winding path through law and Japanese studies in Australia and Japan to work as a lawyer in both countries for 17 years, before ultimately seeing the light and becoming an audio-visual translator, first in Tokyo and, since 2018, in Australia.

She was once an active member of JAT and hopes to rekindle the connection in her hometown of Melbourne. One of her first translation-era jobs arose after attending a SWET workshop where she met Lynne Riggs.
