Session

The Annual JAT Contest for New and Aspiring Japanese ⟨ ⟩ English Translators, launched in 2004 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of JAT's founding, celebrated its 22nd offering in 2025. This session will reflect on the history and development of the contest, highlighting its role in supporting emerging translators. The program will include a panel discussion featuring award winners from the 21st and 22nd contests, who will share their experiences and insights. A mini-workshop will be conducted using selected source texts from both the Japanese-to-English and English-to-Japanese divisions, offering participants a hands-on opportunity to engage with translation challenges.
